A great place to do business

Wales really is a great place to do business.

I was reminded of this when reading a column in the Daily Post a few days ago by Professor Dylan Jones-Evans.

As well as being Assistant Pro-Vice Chancellor at the University of South Wales, Dylan is the founder of the Wales Fast Growth 50.

The search for this year’s 50 companies has just got underway and, even before being officially launched, over a dozen businesses with more than 100% growth between 2016-18 had been in touch with the organisers.

Being included in the Fast Growth 50 is now seen as a real badge of honour and something that Welsh entrepreneurs aspire to achieve.

Alongside the Fast Growth 50, there is also the Wales Start-Up Awards, again the brainchild of Dylan. The fourth such awards will be held in Cardiff in September.

As Dylan comments in his Daily Post article: “The gamble seems to be paying off as some of the winners from previous Start-Up awards have appeared on the last two Fast Growth 50 lists.”

Last year’s Fast Growth 50 winner was Cwmbran-based Freight Logistics Solutions, a supply chain management company that is now turning over in excess of £8million after just 3 years.

Describing the kind of businesses that make it into the Fast Growth 50 and the Start-Ups lists, Dylan says: “Not only are they disrupting markets, creating jobs and driving forward innovation, they are acting as inspirational role models for others to follow in their footsteps.”

Whether you are a start-up making your way or a more established scale-up business, these prestigious lists provide companies with a real boost for the profile of their brands, while also helping to drive greater employee engagement because people feel they are part of something special.
