A leading North Wales law firm has been recognised by Cancer Research UK after securing over £250,000 worth of gifts from people choosing to leave a legacy to the charity in their Will.
Gamlins Law has been offering Cancer Research UK’s Free Will Service to people aged 18 and over for the last four years, giving guidance and support to those wishing to write a Will or update an existing one.
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research and Gifts in Wills funds over a third of the charity’s life-saving research. Without them, Cancer Research UK would not be able to undertake the pioneering research that is not only saving lives in North Wales but across the world at a global scale.

The money raised will fund exciting research such as that being undertaken by Dr Alan Parker and his team in Cardiff, who are training viruses that usually cause coughs and colds to infect and kill cancer cells. Eventually, these modified viruses could also be used to carry cancer therapy drugs directly to the tumour. This research could pave the way for the development of out-of-the-box treatment ideas, which could improve survival for people with cancer.
Cancer Research UK is the only charity fighting over 200 types of cancer and is determined to accelerate progress so that 3 in 4 people survive their cancer by 2034.
Cancer Research UK’s Free Will Service has been running successfully for over 20 years across a network of solicitors nationwide. It is easy to use and people using the service are asked to consider leaving a legacy gift to Cancer Research UK but are under no obligation to do so.
Gamlins Law, which employs 75 people, has offices in Rhyl, Ruthin, Mold, Abergele, Denbigh and Holywell.
